It appears that in some quarters, the possibility of snow in April is unprecedented. Therefore, global warming is a hoax. This is what happens when you confuse weather with climate.
The two-year legal pursuit of the climate scientist, Michael Mann, by Virginia's climate-sceptic attorney general ran into a dead end at the state supreme court on Friday.
The court rejected Ken Cuccinelli's demand for Mann's email, research notes, and even handwritten memos from his time at the University of Virginia, ruling that the official did not have the legal authority to demand such records.
I have to wonder how much of the taxpayers' money was wasted in Ken Cuccinelli's jihad against Michael Mann.
The inner workings of a libertarian thinktank working to discredit the established science on climate change have been exposed by a leak of confidential documents detailing its strategy and fundraising networks.
DeSmogBlog, which broke the story, said it had received the confidential documents from an "insider" at the Heartland Institute, which is based in Chicago. The blog monitors industry efforts to discredit climate science.
The scheme includes spending $100,000 for spreading the message in K-12 schools that "the topic of climate change is controversial and uncertain - two key points that are effective at dissuading teachers from teaching science", the documents said.
Using a unique pair of satellites that have monitored the disappearing ice over the entire surface of the globe, scientists estimated that some 1,000 cubic miles of ice has disappeared between 2003 and 2010 – enough to cover the US in one-and-a-half feet of water.
The survey found that the melting of the cryosphere has been responsible for raising sea levels by about half an inch over the same period, equivalent to a rise of about 1.5mm a year. This was on top of sea-level increases due to the thermal expansion of seawater caused by rising ocean temperatures.
Yeah, well, if THAT's true, why ISN'T Murrika covered by 18 inches of water?? Answer THAT you eggheads!
The USDA revised their plant hardiness map, the color coded map used by gardeners (like me) to judge what plants will grow in a particular location. My home in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, was situated along the line separating the warmer Zone 6 from the cooler Zone 5 on the old maps. On the new maps, all of Allegheny County is in Zone 6a, with the river valleys listed as a slightly warmer Zone 6b.
Zone 6 now includes almost all of Butler and Armstrong counties, counties that were previously Zone 5 areas. Across the national maps, the warmer zones are creeping northward. If you click on the link above, you can access the interactive map and check out the new zones for your state, or if you enter your zip code, the USDA will show which zone you happen to be in.
This of course is further evidence that climate change is a hoax and that Al Gore is fat, also too!11!!
