In today's P-G, Ruth Ann blames "The Left" for Trump's popularity in the Republican party, and further complains about some people pointing out that all elected Republicans are offering as solitions are religious platitudes, rather than actual legislation, calling it "religious bigotry." Meanwhile, Marco Rubio decided that people who are to dangerous to fly on airplanes aren't so dangerous that they cannot amass arsenals. And for bonus points she invokes BENGHAZI!
She offers no solutions, but just shuts down any criticism by declaring any opinion other than her own "merits no further comment."
We're still awaiting details on the terrorist who killed three people in Colorado in Colorado at a Planned Parenthood clinic, but I think its important to remember that this guy killed more people on US soil than ISIS has.
It looks like the KKK is planning on holding a rally on the Gettysburg battlefield the afternoon of October 5th, near the site where Abraham Lincoln gave the Gettysburg Address. I'm planning on donning my blue suit and standing in protest against this hate group.
The FBI believes authorities disrupted "a localized terror attack" in its planning stages when they arrested a man after converging on a western Minnesota mobile home that contained Molotov cocktails, suspected pipe bombs and firearms, the agency said Monday.
Buford Rogers, 24, of Montevideo, was arrested Friday and charged with one count of being a felon in possession of a firearm. He remained in federal custody Monday and it was not clear if he had an attorney.
"The FBI believed there was a terror attack in its planning stages, and we believe there would have been a localized terror attack, and that's why law enforcement moved quickly to execute the search warrant on Friday to arrest Mr. Rogers," FBI spokesman Kyle Loven said Monday.
WAIT A MINUTE!! This can't possibly have been a potential terror attack. "Buford" is NOT a Muslim name. He's also patriotically-hued.
In the aftermath of the Boston Marathon terror attack, its worth remembering that it could have been worse, a lot worse. Four are dead, and nothing will bring those people back. I cannot imagine the pain their families are going through. Close to 200 people were injured, many seriously, and they face a long road to recovery.
But the people who are responsible have been brought to heel. One is dead, the other in custody. By taking Dzhokhar Tsarnaev alive, we can learn much about the brothers' motivations, mindset, and most importantly, if there are any other conspirators on the loose. Those responsible either have been, or will be punished. Plans will be made and in all likelihood laws passed and regulations promulgated to make sure this never happens again.
In West, Texas, a fertilizer plant situated in the middle of town exploded. Fourteen people were killed. Around 200 people were injured. Buildings were destroyed. And after a few questions about why this happened, nothing will be done, because regulations that could prevent such accidents, or zoning laws that would keep dangerous industrial operations away from residential area are too "economically burdensome." While the company will likely face fines and lawsuits, no one who made the decisions that contributed to the accident will be held responsible and punished for their actions.
When comes to keeping you safe from industrial accidents that have the same, or greater potential of causing death or injury, just remember that a dollar earned trumps your right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
Right-wing blogs are all a-twitter over this "virtually unreported"story of a concealed weapons permit holder reportedly cutting short the killing spree at the Clackamas Mall last week.
The break in gunfire allowed Meli to pull out his own gun, but he never took his eyes off the shooter.
"As I was going down to pull, I saw someone in the back of the Charlotte move, and I knew if I fired and missed, I could hit them," he said.
Meli took cover inside a nearby store. He never pulled the trigger. He stands by that decision.
"I'm not beating myself up cause I didn't shoot him," said Meli. "I know after he saw me, I think the last shot he fired was the one he used on himself."
Now, how can a story be virtually unreported if it was, in fact, reported on? Now, I am NOT going to criticise Mr. Meli for not confronting the shooter, taking cover or not pulling the trigger of his handgun. Handgun v. rifle usually ends in the rifle winning. Taking cover is prudent. Not firing because you fear hitting an innocent person is also prudent. However, the wingers' conclusions do not logically follow the events.
Here's what we know. The gunman shot three people. Meli uses a lull in the firing to pull his handgun and take cover, first behind a pillar, and then in a nearby store. Meli never fires a shot. Reporting from the scene indicated that the shooter's weapon jammed, which is a far more reasonable explanation for why the shooting spree halted, rather than Meli's limited actions (that's not to say that Meli wouldn't have taken a shot had the opportunity presented itself, we just do not know). The shooter killed himself in a service stairwell, apparently out of sight and well away from where Meli took cover, and Meli doesn't indicate that he pursued the shooter, in fact he states that he took cover in a nearby store. There's no indication that the gunman even saw Meli, other than Meli's own account. To conclude that the killer took his own life because of the presence of an armed citizen is nothing more than propaganda.
Reasonable people should be able to have reasonable conversations and debate about the role of guns in our society, the value or detriment of having an armed citizenry, and what can be done to reduce or stop carnage such as this and the Newtown school massacre. Ascribing a heroic conclusion to support your side in the argument when the facts don't support that conclusion is dishonest.
...most damning are the documents showing that the CIA had Bin Laden in its crosshairs a full year before 9/11 — but didn’t get the funding from the Bush administration White House to take him out or even continue monitoring him. The CIA materials directly contradict the many claims of Bush officials that it was aggressively pursuing Al Qaida prior to 9/11, and that nobody could have predicted the attacks.
That fucker through his gross incompetence, is resposible for the deaths of thousands of US citizens that he could have prevented, if he only gave a shit.
Anarchists try to blow up a bridge in Cleveland. Thankfully, they were thwarted by good police work and their own buffoonery. I don't care if your political philosophy comes from the left or the right, if you're trying to make your "point" via violence, I have no use for you, and you deserve every bad thing that happens to you.
The Cleveland Plain Dealer has the affidavits on their website, but I found them somewhat difficult to read in the format used. A downloadable PDF is preferable, IMHO. There's plenty of good coverage over there as well.
