When we brought the Frothling home from the hospital, her aunt gave her a little pink blanket with a bear head on top. This became Mama Bear, and it is her most precious possession. When she was two, she accidentally dropped Mama Bear at PNC Park. Neither I nor Mrs. Froth noticed, and when we got home and discovered Mama Bear missing, I thought she was gone forever.
I called PNC Park, and they confirmed they had Mama Bear. A cleaner found her on the concourse and took her to lost and found. Of course, I drove down right away to pick her up!
This lead to a rule that if Mama Bear left the house, she HAD to stay in the car, unless we were at the grandparents. However, when she started to go to full day preschool this year, she asked if she could take Mama Bear to school for nap time.
Monday a week ago, Mama Bear went missing. The teacher confirmed that the Frothling had Mama Bear at nap time, and Mama Bear was with the Frothling's things after nap, but at the end of the day, she was missing.
We figured she just got misplaced, and the teachers searched, but Mama Bear could not be found. By Friday, we figured that Mama Bear was likely picked up by another child and taken home. She was gone for good.
I searched the intertubes, and found an exact match. It was cleaner than Mama Bear, and less love-worn, but we ordered it to give to the Frothling on Christmas.
Then on Monday, the Frothling was taken to an upstairs classroom at school for a special program....and in that room, was Mama Bear. How she got there no one knows, but as you can see, the Frothling is overjoyed to have Mama Bear back.
And now we have a spare.
