The town recorder in Clay, W.Va., says the mayor has resigned following her response to a racist post on Facebook about first lady Michelle Obama.

Joe Coleman said Tuesday that Mayor Beverly Whaling's resignation is effective immediately.

Ms. Whaling earlier apologized for her response to a post made by Clay County Development Corp. director Pamela Ramsey Taylor after Republican Donald Trump's election as president. Ms. Taylor's post said, "It will be refreshing to have a classy, beautiful, dignified First Lady in the White House. I'm tired of seeing a Ape in heels."

Ms. Whaling responded: "Just made my day Pam."

Ms. Whaling said earlier she isn't racist.

Um, Former mayor Whaling?  You are indeed, a racist, as is your pal Ms. Taylor.  Hey, if the sheet fits, wear it!

Cheering Them On

 

I used to like basketball, but I find the pro game and men's college basketball essentially unwatchable.  Last year, I discovered the Duquesne Duke's women's team, and I really enjoy it.  No showboating and actual teamwork.  I took the Frothling to Duquesne's home opener Sunday afternoon.  You can see us near the top of the screen, sitting behind Lehigh's bench (the Frothling picked the seats).  She's wearing a pink sweater, and you can see her enthusiastically waving her pom-pom when the Dukes score! 

Its also inexpensive entertainment.  Tickets, parking and snacks (you can watch the Frothling eat popcorn at the 1:10 mark) for under $20.00.

I never thought our first killing frost would come as late as mid-November.

Civ VI?

It sucks.  I've played all the Civilization games over the years, and for my money, Civ IV is probably the best, but V was an improvement by getting rid of the "stack of doom."  However, VI is several steps backwards.  You cannot customize your civilization or leader's name, the interface is incredibly clunky, and the AI is just bizarre.  The graphics arfe laughably cartoonish, especially when compared to Civ V.  I play games to relax, and this game is just frustrating and not enjoyable.  I wasted 60 bucks.  You don't have to.

Dump the Electoral College??

Not going to happen, in my opinion, but it appears that Clinton garnered more votes than Trump. 

And So It Begins

That didn't take long at all.  Now that Trump won the election, hateful incidents directed at minorities, gays and immigrants are on the rise.

Some Predictions

The ACA is repealed by spring.  No replacement will be offered.

Roe v. Wade overturned by the end of 2018.

Russia will invade/annex the Ukraine and the Baltic States by the end of Trump's first term.

Trump will order a nuclear strike, and the military will refuse to carry it out.
