Pennsylvania Has Early Voting???

So everyone is talking about Newt Gingrich accusing Megyn Kelly of "being obsessed with sex" but what caught my ear was something early in the exchange:

GINGRICH: Well, look. The next two weeks are a contest of two parallel universes. I just listened to that report. First of all, I used to hang out with Charlie Cook when he would explain that Donald Trump was hopeless and would not get the nomination. I like Charlie. That doesn't mean he's infallible. But let's take the report we just got. Republicans are actually outvoting Democrats in Florida, they're outvoting Democrats in Pennsylvania, that's unprecedented. They've cut the Democratic leads --  

KELLY: You predict a win in Pennsylvania.  

GINGRICH: I think they might.

KELLY: Really? You think Trump is going to win Pennsylvania?

GINGRICH: Look, all I can report you right now is they're outvoting the Democrats in early voting which is also true in Florida which is unprecedented.

OK, so Newt says Republicans are outvoting Democrats in early voting in Pennsylvania?  That's rather interesting, as Pennsylvania doesn't even HAVE early voting. While you can cast an absentee ballot, Pennsylvania's rules are rather draconian on who is allowed to cast one.  You essentially have to prove that you will not be in the state on election day, and they won't give you a ballot if you're out of your precinct voluntarily, such as on a vacation.   So if Newt thinks Republicans are out polling Democrats in early voting in Pennsylvania, well, then he really is living in a parallel universe, or perhaps a bizarro one.

 

ACORN!!

Only it isn't Acorn, it is, once again, a Republican. 

A Martinsville man pleaded guilty in Augusta County Circuit Court Tuesday to fraudulently putting voter signatures on petitions to get former Republican presidential candidate Newt Gingrich on the Virginia Republican presidential primary ballot last year.

Adam Dustin Ward, 28, of Martinsville, pleaded guilty to 36 counts of voter fraud and foregery, according to a report by NBC 29.

Ward collected thousands of signatures with similar handwriting with addresses that could not be confirmed.

I've come to the conclusion that because Republicans commit so much voter fraud and voter suppression, they just cannot comprehend that Democrats aren't doing the same.  As I've often typed, if Republicans accuse Democrats of doing something wrong, you can bet that they're doing exactly what they're charging Democrats with, only 100 times worse.

Voter Fraud!!

And once again, its the Republicans committing it.

Ruth Ann Vomits Up Another Article

This time she complains about a politician engaging in politics, takes veiled swipe at Teh Gays, and then pivots to a whine about how ebil liberuls are trying to keep religious people from engaging in bigotry and discrimination.  My favorite part, though, was this: 

But it's possible the cynicism runs deeper -- and the failure of leadership is greater -- than conveniently evolving into a gay marriage advocate just in time to rake in millions from big donors in Hollywood (where the institution of marriage is of course so highly prized).

It's possible.  Of course, there are lots of things that are possible, aren't there?  Ruth Ann should understand that nearly half of all marriages, be they in Hollywood or elsewhere, end in divorce.  Of course, the institution of marriage isn't too prized in Washington D.C. either (just ask Newt Gingrich) or among far right radio talkers (just ask Rush Limbaugh).  Meanwhile, President Obama has gotten along just fine with a single spouse, unlike say, a certain opinion columnist in the pages of the P-G who is, if I'm not mistaken, on husband number 2.

Romney Romps, Routs Rivals

I don't think he's quite put it away, but Santorum's recent insensitive comments probably make the path quite a bit easier.  So long as Ricky's and Newt's sugar daddies continue to fund them, I don't see anyone dropping out.

Another Surge Of Santorum

Little Ricky takes both Alabama and Mississippi.

 Rick Santorum won the Alabama and Mississippi primaries Tuesday, striking deep into the South to deliver a stunning blow to Newt Gingrich in the battle to become the conservative alternative to front-runner Mitt Romney.
Poised to shake up the topsy-turvy race, Santorum's twin wins effectively killed Gingrich's Southern strategy and likely could create pressure on the former House speaker to drop out of the race.
Mitt Romney trailed Santorum in both states, likely to add delegates to his pack-leading total but now facing a potentially changing landscape.

Mittens probably still has the inside track, but I have to wonder why Newtie and Paul are staying in this.  Despite the fevered imaginations of the Paultards, he has no chance to get the nomination, and nowhere near enough delegates to be any sort of factor in a brokered convention.  I still think Gingrich is staying in just out of spite, but if Romney or Santorum cannot lock up a win, Newt could play the role of kingmaker. 

And The Winner Is.....

Mittens!  While the race is still technically up for grabs, Romney is probably far enough ahead its unrealistic for Little Ricky to catch up.  Santorum should probably stay in the race anyway, if for no other reason to try and secure a vice-presidential nod (which might make sense for Romney to address the ridiculous concerns from religious right that he belongs to some sort of "cult" as if any candidates' religious beliefs should be an issue anyway), but why are Gingrich and Paul still hanging around?  My guess is that in Gingrich's case its spite, and for Paul, he and his fan club continue to believe the fantasy that they can stage some sort of revolution come the convention.

Stupor Tuesday

Well, its finally here, and I suppose the question is, can Santorum hold off Mittens in Ohio and Tennessee?  Newt is expected to do well in Georgia. 

And How, Pray Tell, Are You Going To Do That?

Newt promises $2 a gallon gasoline.

The United States can’t afford to keep sending $500 billion a year overseas to purchase foreign oil, especially when there is so much domestic gas and oil available, Gingrich said. He said gas prices could drop to $2.50 or even $2 a gallon if the United States “dramatically” ramped up drilling offshore and on federal land.

Of course, the reason why gasoline prices are rising right now has nothing to do with supply.  We're currently exporting oil (and the XL pipeline is infrastructure designed to make even more oil available for export).  Oil is a global commodity, any increase in production here simply goes onto the world market.  If we increase supply, OPEC will cut supply, simply to maintain prices. 

The current run up in oil prices is attributable to market speculators driving up oil futures because they are betting on military action towards Iran by either the Israelis or the U.S. disrupting supplies.

Leave Poor Newt Alone!

After all, it was just a mistake.

Had the same thing been carried out by a worker for the now-defunct ACORN, Republicans --- and even Newt Gingrich --- would have called it massive "voter fraud." But the 1,500 acts of fraud, by Gingrich's own admission, were carried out by a worker hired by his campaign, so it seems the media have barely noticed it...

In late December, after Gingrich had failed to turn in enough valid signatures to qualify for the Virginia primary ballot, he was caught on video tape telling a supporter in Iowa that the reason for the failure was due to a campaign worker who created 1,500 fraudulent signatures.

"We turned in 11,100 --- we needed 10,000 --- 1,500 of them were by one guy who, frankly, committed fraud," Gingrich is seen and heard saying in video originally aired by CNN.

The former Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives downplayed the incident, by explaining to the woman that the entire affair was "just a mistake," after they had "hired somebody who turned in false signatures."

As the Brad Blog points out, this is the same sort of thing ACORN was raked over the coals for for years, eventually leading to the dissolution of the organization, even though no one was able to show that anyone, ever illegally cast a vote due to ACORN's registration efforts.  But in Gingrich's case, its "just a mistake."

The AG's office in Virginia is investigating, but seeing how that office is headed up by a far right whackaloon, I doubt anything will come of it.  After all, IOKIYAR!
